Long and strong and angular, oh my!  Orafina is a dairyman’s dream. With an excellent front end assembly, a long and clean bone pattern, strong feet and legs, wide rump, strong top line and even uphill!  Add in her incredibly wide rear udder (thank goodness for that wide rump and great rear leg set) and gorgeous fore udder and you have a recipe for a doe that is built to produce and to last.

However, proof is in the pudding and Orafina makes lots and lots of pudding. She freshened as a yearling doe and due to her high production we elected to milk her through.   She posts these amazing stats:  562 DIM, 6962 lbs/milk, 317 lbs/butterfat  (4.55% average), and 245 lbs/protein (3.52% average).  Her numbers were so strong that she was Top Ten just for her first 305 days in milk (as a yearling mind you) in both butterfat and protein. 

To add to this accomplishment, she was awarded Superior Genetics as well as named an Elite doe.   Better still, with all this production, she earned an Excellent appraisal score (LA 90 VEEE).  She also showed very well for us this year, earning 2 legs toward her Championship and anchoring our Best Dairy Herd in Show award. 

Her daughter, Whey-to-Go Filigree, has earned her dry leg and has been named All American Jr. Yearling. 

If all of this isn’t enough – Orafina is a huge favorite in the milk parlor.  She is calm and matter of fact and all about business.  Easy to milk with wonderful texture and so strong that she just makes it look easy.  We’ll take that!
